Full-bodied and refined, with ultra-fine tannins. Crushed stone. Velvety finish. L’Église Clinet’s second wine, always made from the same two plots. Drink it after 2023. ” 93 Parker Points:“ La Petite Église 2016 has a medium-intensity purple-garnet red color and exudes a beautiful scent of black cherries, dudes and black plums, with hints of bush, box of cigars and reclaimed land. With a medium to full body, it envelops the palatine with layered and intense aromas of red and black fruit, with iridescence of Provence herbs, which persists in the long, velvety end. ” *** The second wine Denis Durantou’s is a Pomerol in all law, at a fraction of the price of great wine, Église Clinet, being usually the wine with the best value for money in Pomerol. And 2016 is simply charming! Denis Durantou runs the estate owned by his family for four generations, since 1983. Owner and oenologist, he makes here, on only 6 hectares, some of the superstars of Pomerol. He is helped by his talent, by one of the best terroirs in Bordeaux, but also by a lot of work. He innovated enormously and imposed his style and philosophy. Thus, he manages to make, every year, some of the best wines in Bordeaux. The great wine, Église Clinet, is made from 4.5 hectares of vineyards located next to the church of Pomerol, on a soil of stone and clay. The excellent Petite Église, the second wine, is born from two separate plots of 1.5 hectares. Denis Durantou’s wines are fragrant, have a great aromatic complexity and a structure that allows them to age for decades. Unfortunately, the quantities are far too small for the large number of consumers who hunt each edition.
