Since 2008, Citadelle has been launching a limited edition of aged gin every year. Each edition has a unique aromatic profile. Generally, the gin on the market is bottle immediately after distillation. This is not the case with Citadelle Réserve gin, which “rests” for several months in French oak barrels before bottling. It is a method practiced hundreds of years ago, when gin was stored and transported in wooden barrels because glass was too fragile and expensive, and plastic and stainless steel did not exist. Citadelle Gin Réserve is the first assortment of aged gin. Aging softens the aroma of lemon and highlights warmer tones, while lending wood and vanilla notes to the assortment. It’s no secret that gin conquered the whole world right after its release. “The idea is not to use as many plants as possible, but to use those plants that accentuate the classic taste of juniper,” say the producers. Tasting notes: Smell: Delicate aroma of juniper, lemon, orange, oak, cinnamon and floral notes of violet. Taste: A special bouquet that combiness notes of juniper with sweet aromas of oak and a splash of lemon. Finish: Long, woody, with hints of lavender and lemon. Color: Almost colorless, with slight yellowish tones.
