The exotic and special character of the 15-year-old Glenlivet assortment is due to the selective aging process, where part of the whiskey is matured in French oak barrels. Glenlivet was one of the first distilleries to use French oak in the whiskey process. Limousin oak comes from the Dordogne region of France, where it is often used to ripen brandy. Its low density allows the drink to penetrate deep into the walls of the barrel, and the master distillers carefully control the ripening period, so as not to overload the final taste. Tasting notes: Smell: Inviting notes of dried fruit, butter, rose petals, green apple and cinnamon accents. Taste: A rich bouquet, dominated by woody notes, almond flavor, apple and cinnamon cake. A drop of water opens up aromas of red apples. Finish: Persistent, spicy. Color: Amber.
