Nikka Whiskey Yoichi Single Malt Yoichi Single Malt is the hallmark of the first Nikka distillery, built in 1934. Founder Masataka Takesuru chose Yoichi from Hokkaido due to environmental conditions similar to those in Scotland, where he learned how to make whiskey. thus obtained it is described as daring and strong. The notes of peat and smoke come from the traditional and direct distillation with coal.
