Zacapa rum was created in 1976 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Zacapa City. Zacapa is a town in Guatemala located about 112 km from Guatemala City. The name Zacapa derives from the Nahuatl (Aztec) language and means “on the river of grass”. The sugar cane used in the production of this rum is cultivated in the southwest of the country; at the foot of a volcano in the small town of Retalhuleu, located at an altitude of 350 meters. After the finest of the distillates are obtained; Master Zacapa pulls them into oak barrels and leaves them to mature at an altitude of 2300 meters. Zacapa Ambar 12 Years is a mixture of rum matured up to 12 years in oak barrels according to the Solera pyramid system. Color: Gold. Bouquet: Heavy aromas of caramel, melon and apricot nectar.
