The transformation of fruits into brandy (originally, “palijenka” being a term of Slovak origin, reached in Romanian through the Austro-Hungarians) is a custom preserved for centuries and with great pride in Transylvania. The Transylvanian passion for creating natural drinks created by distilling fermented fruits is certified by the attestation of this process in Tara Oasului since the 16th century. Around 1900, the palincia of Zetea Batranul from Miresul Aurit, a locality then in the Maramures Region, today a commune in Satu-Mare county, became known and appreciated in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Over time, the secrets of producing this drink have been kept and passed on by the forefathers, this family business being run after 1989 by Silviu Zetea, who took it from his father, Dumitru Zetea . Currently, the brandy produced by Zetea is one of the most appreciated local drinks, being a brand that has further strengthened its reputation and respect by obtaining the Silver Medal in 2001 at the World Competition in Brussels. The apricot zetea brandy is made by a 100% natural, patented process, from fresh fruits of the best quality, which gives the amber drink, an intense apricot aroma and an elegant smell. These characteristics are obtained through a mandatory minimum aging, without using dyes, sugars or chemicals to make this drink that has an alcohol concentration of 50% and is sold in elegant bottle of 50 cl.
