He inherited it from his family and she helped him become one of the best producers in the place. Born into an old family of winemakers, whose history dates back to the seventeenth century, he worked in the vineyard as a child. But he always nurtured the ambition to make his own wine. This part of his story is relatively recent – it all started in 1980, at the age of 19, when his father, Jean Girardin, decided to divide his property in Santenay between the four children. Each received three hectares. Vincent’s passion spoke for itself, and his wines were quickly noticed by critics and connoisseurs around the world. In this way, it was able to expand to 22 ha, becoming one of the leading producers in the Côte de Beaune. However, there were also searches: between 1980 and 1990 he tried all the techniques used at that time, producing good but commercial wines. Then he opened a dealer line. The profound change took place only in the early 2000s, with the arrival of Eric Germain as oenologist in the field. Together, they decided to focus on the essence of wine: the expression of the great terroirs of Burgundy, reaching a remarkable purity of style.
