Domeniile Prince Matei – Prince Matei Merlot

The iconic Prince Matei is the most famous Romanian Merlot. The strength and elegance of this Merlot are reminiscent of the personality of the great voivode Matei Basarab (whose name he bears), this “Patron” of culture and orthodoxy who is linked to the first use of the Roman language in official, civil and religious life or the first written legislation “Little Rule” . The plots from which the grapes come are carefully selected. The number of bunches per stump is limited. The result is a perfect balance between the accumulation of sugar, the concentration of flavors and the coloring substances. The wine is aged in 225 or 400 liter barrels of French origin, for a period of at least 12 months. After this, the wine is bottle in bottle and stored in the cellar for about 24 months. Color: clear visual appearance, ruby-red color, bright, reddish-purple reflections. Bouquet: berries (blackberries, currants , strawberries), complex aromas of black pepper, chocolate, coffee and vanilla.
