Ferghettina Franciacorta Pas Dosè Docg Riserva33 is an ‘overall set’: the base of the wine before the second fermentation is in fact composed of 33% of the base wine for Saten, Milledi and Extra Brut wines. This wine is made from grapes from about 40 different vineyards located in 8 municipalities in Franciacorta. Franciacorta is the champagne of the Italians. Located in the province of Brescia in Lombardy, it is a small appellation, which covers only 2000 hectares. It received DOCG status in 1995. The varieties allowed are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. Like champagne and unlike Prosecco, Franciacorta is produced by the traditional method – the second fermentation takes place in glass. Variety: 100% Chardonnay Color: bright golden yellow Bouquet: mineral and complex, with scent of almonds, hazelnuts, pineapple, cedar, bergamot, peaches, oranges, a breeze of acacia flowers and a smoky tint in the background Taste: lush, fresh and balanced, with an extraordinary depth and finesse; particularly fine, creamy and persistent pearl; the wine evolves very nicely on the palatine, it has a rich and creamy texture, in which we find the aromatic fan in the smell; end dominated by notes of ground coffee Culinary combinations: excellent as an appetizer, goes well with seafood entrees, spaghetti with shells, spicy or roasted Whitemeat Number of bottle produced: 8,000 (Wine is produced only in the best years.) Awards: 2009 Edition – 94 Decanter Points
