In Transylvania, at the foot of the Carpathians, is the land cultivated with vines for hundreds of years. Among the first to cultivate vines are the Germans from the Rhine Valley and the wine region located near the river Mosel. Their descendants, the Saxons, continued the cultivation of vines and wine production even after the Second World War, when some of them returned to their home territories. In recent history, Lechința wines are produced since 1962 in a local winery, purchased in 2015 by a family originally from Italy. Currently, the Lechburg winery preserves the natural heritage of the place, the legacy of French influences from Alsace and Rhine in the cultivation of vines and a range variety of wines from Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Golden Muscat, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Riesling de Rhin, Sauvignon and Feteasca Royal.
