Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia was founded in 2004. It was a Spanish-French joint venture between Tempos Vega Sicilia and Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild. The two producers were attracted by the idea of producing wines in Rioja. Rioja is the famous wine region of the Basque Country. The project came to life in 2009. The first edition included two wines: Macán and Macán Clásico. The wine has an aging potential of 10-15 years, if kept in the right conditions: constant temperatureof 12-14 ºC and relative humidity of 60% . 94 James Suckling Points: ”The newest project of the Alvarez family, in partnership with Benjamin de Rothschild. This second label has a very attractive nose of chocolate and cherries, with spicy oak, extraordinarily well integrated. On the palate, the tannins are firm. Very velvety and attractive, long and balanced. Splendid plum aromas. Very fresh. ” 93 Parker Points:“ Clean, modern and balanced, with integrated oak, classic berry aromas and a spicy touch. Medium to full body, with granular tannins and enough elegance to balance its natural strength. I would say it is a very successful 2015, from a very good year. ” Oenologist: Gonzalo Iturriaga de Juan Variety: Tempranillo – 40-year-old vines, hand-picked grapes Color: dark red-purple Bouquet: elegant, with a scent of red fruits and sweet spices: cinnamon, vanilla Taste: fresh, intense and elegant, very pleasant and spicy, serious and consistent, with sweet tannins and long finish, tasty and lively Culinary associations : tapas; artisanal sausages; chicken; large game; steak tartare; steaks Serving temperature 18 ° C Number of bottle produced: 70,928 regular bottle, 1,042 Magnum, 62 Double Magnum, 22 Imperial
